Hi, welcome to my Lanzarote photographer blog. My name is Charlotte Walton, I have been living here in Lanzarote for 14 years. I am English and also speak fluent Spanish, I am told with a strong Canarian accent :).
Why lanzarote-photographer.com?
I have always loved taking photos and Lanzarote is one of the best places on the planet to be a photographer. The stunning scenery and especially the amazing light make it a photographers paradise.
In 2011 I started to learn how to become a wedding photographer. Betty used to be my art teacher and I had spent some time having private lessons with her for photography, she then asked me if I would like to become her “apprentice” and learn how to photograph weddings.
Betty showed me the basics and then let me loose! Whilst she covered the more formal poses like the exchanging of vows, rings etc my job was to take informal photos of the bride & groom & other guests. Then one day Betty was unable to do a wedding due to a family matter and with 3 hours notice I was on my way to Playa Blanca to be the official photographer for my first wedding. I was terrified, but they were a really great family and we all had a lot of fun and most of all they loved my photo’s.

Lanzarote Photographer or University?
I recently decided not to go to university and instead spend a year being mentored by professional photographer, John Hicks who now lives here on the island. John recently made a video with Sadie Frost, his photos have appeared in Vogue and other top magazines. He has worked on advertising campaigns for Nike, Coca Cola and many other magazine and advertising campaigns for some of the biggest companies on the planet.
Working with John is great, it’s a great experience to be alongside a top photographer and I have learnt so many new techniques in such little time!
